HAZEL BUCHER
Nurse Practitioner Aged Care Mental Health Nurse Dementia Diagnostician and Researcher
Hazel is an Aged Care/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (NP) who has been working in the Hobart region as a NP since her authorisation in 2010. Hazel worked initially as a NP Aged Care/Mental Health with the Older Persons Mental Health Service South, has been a research associate with the Wicking Research and Education Centre in Hobart and a Unit Coordinator with the Nursing and Midwifery (School of Health Sciences) at the University of Tasmania.
During her time at OPMHS Hazel established a nurse-led memory clinic and is now conducting the clinic from Kingston and participates in the Australian Dementia Network (ADNet) research. Hazel has had 12 years’ experience assessing, diagnosing and providing management advice to people with cognitive concerns and their families, and those keen for a base line assessment and brain health education and advice.
Hazel’s passion to improve health delivery for older Australians is the motivation behind all that she has done – coupled with her belief that nurses can be at the forefront of positive change in health care delivery models.
